Alphonsa English Medium School, Thamarassery is recognized as a minority Institution as per the order dated Ist June , 2009.
The times have changed, but our objective has remained the same - to help people enhance their lives through education. Together we will keep working to fulfill Dr. Sperling's vision, improve the lives of our students and strengthen our communities.
The area of the Diocese of Thamarassery, comprises two revenue districts of Kerala State, i.e. Malappuram and Kozhikode. The majority of the population is Hindus and Muslims, whereas the Christians are in a minority. They are settled in the hilly and undeveloped areas of these districts.
The geographical disposition forces them to remain in a socially, economically and educationally poor condition. It was a dream of our first Bishop, Mar Sebastian Mankuzhikary, to help this minority compete with the developing socio-economic situation of Malabar. The way he planned for the same was to give them a deep and fundamental education with the help of up-to-date pedagogical means. For this purpose the diocesan authorities erected a trust, named Alphonsa Educational and Charitable Trust.
